Eldorado takes us to Romania, where the biggest gold mine in Europe is being prepared to be open. A Canadian company is planning to build a tailing pond for storing the cyanide waste water used for extraction of gold, a hundred times bigger than the one which caused the catastrophe of the River Tisza in 2000. The thousands of people would have to be relocated, and the mountains surrounding the villages would disappear within 15 years as 20 tonnes of dynamite is used per day. The area is the location for the oldest and best preserved Roman mines in Europe. therefore an important archeological site. >>>

Feri Ăs az Ădes Ălet (Feri and the sweet life) Director: Czabán GyĂrgy (91', 2001)
This film is about the wonderful life of a middle-aged
couple who win the lottery prize of one billion HUF one day. After years of
living in a tower block in miserable conditions, diluted beers and reduced circumstances
are gone, now they can set out for the Sweet Life, that is the luxury villas
on Buda district and everything that goes with it...
Feri and the Sweet Life is, however, no moral parable. It is an ironic tale
of a family's prosperity. As we expected, the KVB sense of humor is the same:
they show an arsenal of clumsy everyday situations, sophisticated puns, and
unexpected gags. Actors are in their elements - no wonder they were given award
at the Hungarian National Film Festival -, Frigyes HollĂłsy plays his role with
subtle dignity and enacts a husband who can go against the stream, while ErzsĂbet
DĂłzsa in the role of his wife shows a woman who falls for every obscure alternative
therapy expert. Endre B. Bojtár's interpretation of the Russian-Ukrainian telepathist
charlatan is also hilarious.

- So the boss shows up with this fuckin' big shotgun. He
started shooting in the water, but by then no one cared what he was doing, they
were just getting the hell off the boat.
- You got out of there, damn it!
- Yeah, I was out of there. You only stuck around because you were being wise
again.
- I busted the face of one of those damn assholes.
- He was just an innocent high school kid, on the canoe trip.
- He stepped on my fucking foot, dammit.
- Fine, whatever. Then what happened was that the boss used the last cartridge
on his own head. He blew his head off, but by then the cops were there and the
fire department sent a truck over too. So the boss, he was finished.
- Lost his head a little, didn't he, dammit!
- Then by morning they fished him out of the water. They got the waiter kid
out of it, or rather, what was left of him, 'cause the fish had already digested
him. All that was left on the bottom was the sole of his shoe, some bones, and
his belt buckle. >>>

Sometime not too far in the future a revolution takes place in a certain country. A special dictatorship, the Smokers' Society. The changes of the revolution transform the structures of the society radically. On top of hierarchy stands the Doctor Prime Minister. The main characters live in this country that has its own laws. They have something in common: they do nothing. We don't find out anything about their existence. Who are these sub-beings? Dániel, Kristóf and Tamás? Why is János Paulus, the "Roman", investigating? Who is he after? Some people play the dice, even take a risk. It's 2017. Danube City - the former Budapest. Anything can happen, but there are no more stories. (Source: filmunio.hu)
