ArvopartA mű 1982-ben keletkezett, s méltán tette híressé alkotóját. Krisztus szenvedésének és halálának zenei elbeszélése Arvo Pärt passiója, mely János evangélista szövegére íródott. Az észt származású, Németországban élő zeneszerzőt még kevéssé ismerik Magyarországon, művei ritkán kerülnek előadásra.
